Well this weekend is cold again but earlier in the week the fishing was on fire! I had some really good luck on pompano and small permit(3-6lbs). In fact I had an opportunity to go fishing with one of my friends on Sunday and we had a blast sight fishing pompano. Yes, I said "sight fishing pompano". Which is not totally unheard of but it's something a lot of people just don't do. Let me tell you it's a ball! I had been seeing scattered pompano while fishing on charters the last couple of weeks but I hadn't had the opportunity to fish them. We simply started up on the edge of a sandbar and slowly went down it with the trolling motor keeping an ever wathcful eye out for fish. Within 5 minutes we had our first shot which I blew by casting to close to the fish. The next fish was a different story. All together we hooked 12 pompano in about 2 hours and had at least 30 more shots. If you like to sight fish like I do, Give it a shot.

Don't forget tarpon season is right around the corner and you need to start making your plans now.

Catch Fish, No Excuses!
